The Changing Rules on Gig Economy Workers: Time to Plan

Location Online

We at the HR, Talent, & Culture group, a community of recruiters, HR professionals and talent experts, would like to invite you to our next webinar sponsored by HiBob: The Changing Rules on Gig Economy Workers: Time to Plan

Annabel Kaye will discuss the key things you need to do during 2019 to be ready for changes to how you manage pay zero hours workers and contractors.   She is a highly sought-after expert in the gig economy.

The legal and tax framework for the gig economy is constantly changing. When the IR35 regime for public sector was introduced in April 2018 it increased the cost of freelance workers by an average of 10% and created a skills shortage as workers moved to the private sector.  Can you handle this by April 2020? Will Brexit make this easier or harder to find the contractors you need? And at the same time, the rules on Zero hours contracts are changing again. Can you tell who is who and what is what?

Annabel uses her 38 years of employment law and HR experience to help you navigate and plan for changing times in a way that does not drive you crazy.  She believes that HR is about all the people your organisation pays – not just employees and that it is vital we all learn to create flexibility that does not hurt the organisation or the individuals we pay.

She founded Irenicon in 1980 to provide employment law and HR support and in 2009 she also founded KoffeeKlatch to focus on the way we work today with freelancers, contractors and gig workers.

In this webinar we will be looking at:

  • What you need to do now to be ready for the changes
  • What you need to do to avoid being fined
  • What you need to do with line managers who hire gig workers
  • What you need to do with finance departments who pay gig workers
  • What you need to do in your own HR systems to flag up individuals who will be affected and create onboarding systems that work
